I don’t enjoy packing and my packing often involves going to a cruise ship for months at a time. I live part of the year on a cruise ship – originally as a crew member and now as an officer spouse and new mom. Trying to fit our lives into a few suitcases – especially with a kid is tough. Anything that I can find that makes packing up our lives for those months at sea easier is a win. After 3 years of using Earth Breeze Laundry Detergent sheets I still would recommend them.
These laundry detergent sheets have made my life so much easier. For traveling but at home, too. Being able to fit enough laundry detergent for up to 60 loads in a small envelope inside my suitcase (and not weighing a ton) has been wonderful! This is now my go to travel laundry detergent. What Are Laundry Detergent Sheets?
Laundry detergent sheets are basically dehydrated or liquidless laundry detergent that kind of looks like a piece of paper. The sheets are pre-portioned for a typical load of laundry which gives you a similar ease of use to laundry pods – but takes up less space and is won’t explode all over your suitcase in a disastrous mess. The liquidless part of these sheets is part of what makes this the best laundry detergent for travel.
One pre-portioned sheet is approximately 3 inches tall by 4 inches wide. You simply put them in the machine (or in the laundry detergent holder, depending on the machine) and it dissolves completely during the wash.

Regardless of what kind of travel I am doing I’ve found that having some laundry detergent with you can be a lifesaver. You never know when you will need to hand wash something – you slip and fall and get your favorite shirt covered in mud, you spill a drink on it, someone spills a drink on you – whatever it is, you need to hand wash some items in the sink at the hotel mid-trip. Perhaps you are staying somewhere with a washer available. Regardless, traveling with some laundry detergent is always recommended. I have used these sheets as my regular go-to laundry detergent (whether traveling or at home) and have used them in top-load washers as well as newer front-load styles. I also have several sweaters that I hand wash only and for those I will just rip off a little bit of the degergent sheet, it suds up nicely in the water and has my sweaters looking, feeling, and smelling great.
Fun side bonus – I’ve actually used them to clean a stain out of carpet. Worked like a charm.

They aren’t liquid and they aren’t powdered – meaning the bag they’re in won’t accidentally explode and leave laundry detergent all of your bag – which is annoying if it’s powdered and a complete pain if it’s liquid. Best Travel Laundry Detergent – Especially for Those In the Travel Industry
These laundry detergent sheets are such a game changer when it comes to travel. As a cruise ship crew member I am packing months of life into a couple suitcases. For those new to ships I would typically recommend when joining a cruise ship for a crew contract to bring toiletry supplies (including laundry detergent) only for the first couple of weeks and then plan on going ashore to get more. The reason for this largely has to do with how much space it takes up, the risk of any liquid items exploding or otherwise leaking on your things, and the weight it adds to the luggage.
And, while they sell these toiletry items in the crew store onboard, there isn’t usually a great selection and it’s normally packaged more in “travel size” portions. Buying in travel sizes can both get quite expensive and tends to be super wasteful for packaging.
So, going ashore a few weeks into the contract to do a supply run is kind of standard. However, I am all about things that make life easier. Not having to spend precious shore-time to go shopping for toiletry items and then bring them back to the ship? Kind of priceless.

These laundry sheets are light, compact, and mess free so that packing three months worth of laundry detergent takes up less space than a very short average sized book. While working onboard I found that I usually did one load of laundry per week (as most of the time I was wearing a uniform which I get sent out to be washed), so for three months I would pack on average 20 laundry pods (some extra for ease of use). That’s Great, But Does Earth Breeze Work?
I have been using these eco-sheets in my home for about three years (yes, years!) and I love them. Yes, Earth Breeze Laundry Detergent Sheets work – in my experience as good as any traditional laundry detergent.
I’ve used them exclusively in the past three years and have held up to all sorts of challenges. Most recently I have tested to see whether Earth Breeze works even with baby clothes and mess. I’ve found that they absolutely hold up and because it isn’t filled with harsh chemicals has also worked on her sensitive skin.
On each package it indicates how many sheets you should use for different types of loads. Most often one sheet, but for a small load a half sheet might be recommended and for a particularly soiled load they would recommend two. I have also on a particularly full load put two in just in case. Thus far those recommendations have been on point and our clothes have come out clean. I have also used a portion of a sheet to do a pre-wash spot clean and this has helped for some particularly bad messes. I should also note that in my home life I often help out on my brother’s farm – these laundry detergent sheets have worked well even on my barn clothes.
I also find it nice that they have a fragrance free option. Some people don’t particularly like the smell that comes with most laundry detergents so, if you aren’t partial to the smell of laundry detergent – they have a great solution for that.

Where can you buy EarthBreeze Eco-Sheets? They are available to order online and they literally ship to your mailbox. Not a package that gets left on your front door – they come in an envelope that easily fits in a standard size mailbox (or through your letter box for those in the UK!)
In addition you can order them as a subscription. Meaning that you can have these sheets delivered at whatever interval works best for you and your family. Options range between once a month up to once every four months. As a mom that is sleep deprived this is so handy! One less thing to think about buying.
Not into subscriptions? That’s okay, too. Sometimes I hate signing up for a subscription because then I forget to cancel it an alas it’s money down the drain. They have just regular, one off ordering, too.
The biggest downside I’ve found is that if you want to cancel your subscription or edit it’s regularity you click on “Account” and then have to send a message in versus having an interactive console to use.
